At CTS Group, we understand that every learner is different. That’s why all pricing is based on your entry level, learning pace, and support needs. The quicker you demonstrate competence, the less time and support you’ll need — which directly affects your overall cost.
Just like learning to drive, some learners progress quickly, while others need more time and guidance. Becoming a gas engineer depends entirely on your ability to demonstrate both theoretical knowledge and practical competence, including adherence to gas safety regulations, building regulations, British Standards, and legislation.

How Your Training Level is Assessed
- We assess every applicant using the same process, regardless of background;
- You'll receive a short video training module and a multiple-choice test;
- You’ll use provided data sheets to support your answers;
- Your score and number of attempts help us determine your training level.
For example, if you complete the entry test in fewer than three attempts, you’ll qualify for the lowest Stage 1 pricing.

- Up to £1,250 + VAT for learners requiring more frequent guidance.
Standard Cost for Stage 1 & 2 – Foundation Training & Portfolio
Our full foundation training program, which includes both theory (Stage 1) and practical on/off-the-job training with portfolio completion (Stage 2), is priced at £1,600 + VAT. This price is based on a trainee with good DIY skills and the ability to learn independently. It includes:
- A guaranteed portfolio with no waiting lists;
- No delays in sign-off or progression.
Stage 1 – Theory Training (Self-Paced + Tutor Support)
Open learning with weekly check-ins:
Prices start from **£576 + VAT** for fast learners needing minimal support;
- Up to **£1,250 + VAT** for those requiring more one-on-one tutor time;
- This stage is mostly self-study with weekly tutor support sessions.
- The more independent your learning, the lower your cost.
Stage 2 – Practical Training & Portfolio (MLP Program)
This includes on and off-the-job training with guaranteed portfolio completion (no waiting lists or delays).

Initial ACS Assessment and Certification
To gain your Gas Safe licence, you'll need to pass your ACS assessments through a third-party accredited centre. We arrange everything for you. There are centres throughout the UK, choose one that best suits your timeframe and budget.
Your goal is to gain entry to the accredited certification scheme for gas fitting operatives, where competence will earn a certificate which can be used to apply for your gas licence. Since we are an employer and have done your training we have to send you to a third party for assessment. we make all the arrangements and you can chose any centre n the UK, local or distant that best suits your timeframe and budget.

As a general guide, ACS assessment costs currently range between £1,700 + VAT and £3,900 + VAT, depending on the training centre and package selected. This is a one-time investment if you remain active in the gas industry, as future 5-year renewals are significantly less expensive.
